From the category of “Who Funds Studies Like This?,” NBCNews.com brings us this big story: In a survey of emergency room patients who had been drinking before their injury or illness, the highest percentage (15 percnet) of them had been drinking Budweiser.
So says the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, anyway.
The number is actually a bit surprising considering Budweiser owns 9.1 percent of the national beer market. Is there something about Budweiser that makes people more injury prone? More stupid?
Following the King of Beers were these stellar ER options: Steel Reserve Malt Liquor, Colt 45 malt liquor, Bud Ice, Bud Light, and a Barton’s vodka.
Actually, the study reflects far more poorly on Steel Reserve – it owns just a .8 percent share of the beer market, but showed up in 14.7 percent of those surveyed.
